Refugee

A child without a country
A family without a home
We can welcome them all to Canada
This land we call our own

Displaced by war and famine
Nowhere to go but to sea
Seeking a place that will shelter them
Where they’re allowed to be free

The hand of friendship extended
A welcome getting off the plane
These are all things we can do
We are all of us links in the chain

A child without a country
A family without a home
We can welcome them all to Canada
This land we call our own

If you lost your home, country and friends
Your government and freedom too
Wouldn’t you want someone to help
To do for you all they could do?

So let’s welcome the tired and hungry
Those who have been beaten by fate
And show that we are as good as
The values and beliefs that we state

A child without a country
A family without a home
We can welcome them all to Canada
This land we call our own
